Our Mission: Good Food for Everyone

At Can Cook, we believe good food should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income. We’re committed to creating healthier food solutions that promote dignity and bring people together through the power of good food.

Starting life in Five Children’s & Families Trust Community Café in Liverpool, Director Robbie Davison with the support from our Head Chef Tony Evans created cookery training due to the demand from the community asking how to cook the healthier dishes served in the community café. After the success of the first cookery sessions, Can Cook was established ‘to connect people through food’ by teaching people how to cook and eat good fresh food to alleviate the negative impact of poor diet.

Can Cook established as a leading Social enterprise in the UK, extended its reach from Liverpool to North Wales in 2019 and now operates as the parent company to Well-Fed.

Social Impact

All of Can Cook’s activities past and present have been predicated on innovation, dignity and being solution focussed to ensure the legacy of our services create a good food culture that allows accessible good food to everyone regardless of income. We continue our social mission to feeding anyone who is hungry a fresh nutritious meal, and we particularly concentrate on feeding hungry children well. We have provided over 500,000 free meals to people in need.

  • Cookery Training

With over 18,000 individuals taught to cook, our cookery training continues to be a cornerstone of our mission to improve health, diet and food resilience across communities. These sessions go beyond teaching basic culinary skill, they create confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of the importance of diet and budgeting. Participants learn how to prepare wholesome meals from scratch, often using affordable ingredients, which helps reduce reliance on processed foods and takeaways.

  • Making a difference in communities

We continue our social mission to feeding everyone fresh nutritious meals. Working with our community partners we have provided 3.5 million meals across all our services to people. In 2025, we are working with a number of new partners providing Meal Box Programme and Cookery Training to ensure that communities benefit from our services. You can find out more information about our current work here.

  • Providing good food solutions

Our services are solution-focused and designed to foster a culture of good food. By combining creativity and practicality, we make healthier choices achievable for all. We’ve spent a decade in creating healthier food solutions in commercial settings and in 2025, we will launch our innovative plastic-free MealVend and MealLockers.

Our Previous Cookery Training

  • In 2013, Can Cook created a 20 place professional cookery school equipped with chef demonstration area, cookery stations we held both community and corporate cookery lessons.

Our Cook and Dine evenings were a great a fun dining alternative. The evenings included Chef demos, cooking activities, and the advantage of relishing yummy meals without the cleanup.

  • The Can Cook Domes, inflatable venues were an novel concept that contained a large cookery theatre and a eating space for events. The Domes were equipped with a Chef Demonstration area and TV, 10 fully equipped cookery stations and a gallery space for up to 60 people. The innovative design of the Can Cook Domes allowed for versatility in cooking demonstrations and interactive cooking experiences.

  • The Pop Up Kitchen was a unique and innovative way of delivering cookery lessons and healthier messages in communities, looking to inspire a generation of children and young people to cook healthier meals from scratch.
The Chef led cookery training expanded from meeting the needs of disadvantaged communities like Speke, to teaching thousands of children to cook across Merseyside
